Linshu, Shandong Province: Small willow weaving road of happiness

Qingyun Town, Linshu County, Linyi City, Shandong Province, is known as the "wicker Weaving Town". There is a local saying that "if you go to the northeast and South of the Yangtze River, it is better to make flower baskets at home". Therefore, the wicker weaving skill of "everyone can make it and see money every day" has never disappeared.

Wang Shiqi, more than 70 years old, is a native of Wangzhuang village, Qingyun Town. So far, he has 50 years of experience in willow weaving. "Knitting used to be the bread and butter of the family." Wang Shiqi recalled his original intention to learn the craft.

About one-sixth of the 670,000 people in Linshu County are engaged in the wicker weaving industry.

After peeling, the branches of Linshu Willow are white in color, uniform in thickness, high in toughness and good in quality. They are high quality raw materials for willow products. It was learned that the booming wickerwork industry also faced the dilemma of shortage of raw materials. Therefore, Linshu County made great efforts to promote the branding construction of the wickerwork industry, led the industrial transformation with innovation and creativity, and effectively helped the wickerwork industry to grow bigger and stronger.

The 7th China Linshu Willow Weaving Tourism and Cultural Industry Expo, which started from September 29 to October 8, not only featured common willow weaving products, but also saw new products such as cloth art, willow iron weaving, willow wood weaving and willow cloth weaving.

Yang Jinbang, the representative inheritor of Linshu Liuwoven, an intangible cultural heritage in Shandong province, said that some contestants from other places had conducted poverty alleviation projects in their home villages and came here this time to learn their weaving skills. They hoped to teach left-behind women and the elderly their weaving skills after they returned, laying a technical foundation for poverty alleviation.

Due to the epidemic, the export - based wicker weaving industry has suffered a certain impact. Some wicker knitting enterprises are turning to the local market, developing new products suitable for domestic consumers, and using livestreaming to expand customers.
